Public Ethics Commissioner

Alea Gage is a city planner and seasoned community development professional. She currently serves as Preservation Program Manager at the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing & Community Development, which assists nonprofit organizations and tenants in stabilizing multifamily housing through the innovative Small Sites Program.

Alea previously lead the City of Vallejo’s economic development strategy to facilitate growth and investment in one of the nation’s most diverse places. While in Vallejo, Alea also coordinated the first citywide participatory budgeting process in the United States, engaging nearly 4,000 residents in deciding how to spend a portion of the City’s sales tax revenue.

An Oakland resident for 13 years, Alea is proud to raise her children in such a vibrant and civically minded city. She was a Coro Fellow and holds a Master’s degree in City Planning from UC Berkeley.
