Clifford Wong

Deputy Chief Clifford Wong graduated from the Oakland Police Department’s 141st Academy in 1998. In his 24-year career with the Department, he was assigned to Patrol, Community Policing Unit, Foot Patrol Unit, Patrol Watch Commander, Criminal Investigations Division, Personnel Assessment Unit, Information Technology Unit, Internal Affairs Division, and Inspector General. His ancillary duties included serving as a bicycle officer, background investigator, crime prevention through environmental design assessor, police academy instructor for criminal law and cultural diversity, and team leader for the Tactical Negotiations Team.

Deputy Chief Wong serves on the Board of Directors for the Asian Advisory Committee on Crime. In November 2021, he was assigned as the Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Risk Management, which oversees the Training Division, Internal Affairs Division, and Office of Internal Accountability. Deputy Chief Wong holds a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley and a Master of Criminal Justice from Boston University.
