Boating Dock Attendant, PT (Recreation Attendant I, PT)

Salary: Recreation Attendant $14.26/hour plus $2.90/hour health and welfare benefit. 10-20 hours/week Spring/Fall and 20-40 hours/week Summer (mid-June through August), limited winter work available.
An excellent opportunity for a college student, or other adult, seeking part-time employment. The Dock Attendant works one to five days per week including weekdays, weekends, and holidays with a maximum of 960 hours/year. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the safety and enjoyment of patrons using the lake facilities. Assignments include the cleaning and maintenance of equipment, docks, and grounds, assisting and instructing patrons in the safe use of rental boats, tour boat operation, assisting instructors, performing boat rescues, testing renters for sailing competency, and enforcement of lake rules and regulations. Candidates with cashiering experience may also work in the office as cashiers. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Heavy lifting is required. Equipment includes: small motorboat, Optimist Dinghy, El Toro, Sunfish, Catalina 14 keelboat, Hobie Wave, Hobie 14, kayak, canoe, pedal boat, dragonboat, whaleboat, and rowboat.
Required Qualifications - all qualifications of City of Oakland Recreation Attendant I, including:
· 18 Years of Age
· Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade
· Excellent customer service skills
For Boating Positions:
· Basic swimming skills
· Certification in Basic First Aid, CPR, Powerboat Safety is desirable
· Personal Boating Experience
· Basic Sailing Skills or willingness to take the Basic Small Boat Sailing Class (offered free of charge)
