About

Oakland Public Works (OPW) have been hard at work working with the greater community to design and deliver the long anticipated East Oakland Arts Center! Located in the Seminary and Lockwood Gardens neighborhoods in East Oakland’s Council District 6, the EAOC will help young participants grow and build self-confidence through afterschool and summer programs that focus on Digital Audio Production, Digital Video Production, Culinary Arts and Urban Agriculture.

Construction on the project will start in November 2023, and is expected to complete August 2024. The renovated center will re-open to the public in Fall 2024. The existing building will be fully renovated with state of the structural and electrical upgrades, new classrooms, a gender-neutral restroom, storage space, HVAC equipment and sprinkler systems, signage designating the facility with its new name, East Oakland Arts Center, and building façade renovations.
