Fire Safety

Join Oakland Councilmember Sheng Thao, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks-District 15, and Berkeley Vice Mayor Susan Wengraf to discuss lessons learned from the 2017-2018 California Wildfires and how Oakland, Berkeley and the State of California are preparing for anticipated wildfires in 2019. Learn to protect your home from wildfire, create safer neighborhoods, and be prepared for emergencies. Informative handouts, refreshments and snacks will be provided.

PG&E is hosting a series of regional open houses throughout our service area for anyone who is interested in learning more about the Community Wildfire Safety Program. These drop-in gatherings will allow community members to learn more about wildfire safety and emergency preparedness, meet with PG&E representatives, ask questions and share feedback. Webinars will be available for those who are unable to attend an event in person. PG&E will host a meeting on July 8, 2019 at the Oakland Marriott City Center from 6-8pm.

Budget meeting

Join Councilmember Sheng Thao on May 8, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Redwood Heights Recreation Center to learn more about the City’s budget process and provide input on how we should invest in our future. The biannual budget is the most important policy action that the City Council takes and it represents the City’s priorities for the next fiscal year and beyond. Councilmember Sheng Thao wants to hear from you to make sure that the budget reflects the goals and priorities of the community.

Saftey Walk 3

Join my office for a Safety Walk in the Laurel Business District, with officers from the Oakland Police Department to give small businesses tips on how to reduce and prevent crime. Oakland Police Officers will be on hand to educate businesses on best practices for improving security and provide resources such as Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). Please meet at World Ground Café, 3726 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland on April 3, 2019 at 1:30PM.
