Hw13 2

The City of Oakland is performing work to rehabilitate utilities in an easement running parallel with Highway 13.

Work is adjacent to the Highway 13 northbound lane between located between the I-580 Freeway and the Carson Street exit. Access to the easement will require heavy equipment to access the easement via Highway 13. Construction may directly affect the lane of travel closest to the shoulder (right-hand northbound lane) between the hours of 9am - 3pm, Monday through Friday, between October 21, 2019 and late December 2019.

Allendale park tot lot 2

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019. I will host a Community Engagement Meeting with residents of the Allendale neighborhood to discuss and share ideas for a new tot lot at the Allendale Recreation Center. Oakland Public Works staff will present conceptual designs, provide interactive workshops, and answer questions pertaining to the tot lot. The deadline for residents to complete a hard copy or online survey is September 28th.

Currently the city is working closely with the Oakland A’s to potentially develop a new stadium at Howard Terminal. Councilmember Sheng Thao is committed to working with the City of Oakland, Oakland A’s, and Alameda County to ensure an equitable agreement is made around the future of the Oakland A’s, the Oakland Coliseum, and the potential Howard Terminal development.

Vacant lot

The Measure W (Vacant Property Tax) Implementation Ordinance will be heard at the November 5th City Council Meeting. This Measure has been a big topic in District 4 and currently the Administration is putting forth language that, I believe, honors the spirit of Measure "W". The language goes after the speculators who are sitting on vacant land for profit, but provides exemptions for adjoining parcels for use as yard space, low income households, land that is unbuildable, and others.
