I’ve partnered with La Perla and Oakland Mutual Aid Collective to put our 1st FREE Community Meal and Mask Giveaway event on Thursday, November 26th - we will be giving out meals to-go that will include mash potatoes, turkey, gravy and vegetables. We will also be giving out free PPE mutual aid kits that will include, reusable/washable face mask, disposable face masks, hand sanitizer and gloves. All are welcome.

Sheng thao breaks through

Today the Oakland City Council voted unanimously to pass the Emergency Paid Sick Leave For Oakland Employees measure introduced by Councilmember Sheng Thao and her colleagues Councilmembers Fortunato Bas, Kalb, and Taylor. This ordinance was written in partnership with East Bay for A Sustainable Economy and other key stakeholders. Please view the ordinance HERE.

It is important that we prepare our homes, properties, parks, and city for wildfire season. In order to best prepare, I have partnered with Councilmembers Dan Kalb and Loren Taylor in order to host a virtual 'town hall' on wildfire prevention today Monday, May 11, 5:30-7pm.

Sheng Thao OMAC

Oakland Mutual Aid Collective is organized by intergenerational women of color, who work to distribute basic needs supplies in their respective communities, which are disproportionally impacted by the spread of COVID-19.

We are fundraising to procure and rapidly distribute 30,000 reusable cloth face masks, public health information, and hand sanitizer to Oakland’s unhoused, low-income families, seniors, BIPOC, children and youth.

Redwood Heights LS 2019

I promise that my door will always be open. But I don't want you to come all the way to City Hall for us to meet. I want to meet you in our community, I am excited to listen to your priorities and concerns in District 4 and the City of Oakland. That is why I am partnering with community organizations to host five Listening Sessions in the coming weeks.

Small business

Our offices will be hosting a virtual Small Business Town Hall on Monday, April 27th at 2 PM. The Town Hall will give District 4 businesses a chance to learn about what resources are available to them during this time, and ask questions directly to Economic and Workforce Development staff.
