Remote participation including public comment via teleconferencing is not available at this time. Hybrid meetings may commence once the City of Oakland has established meeting procedures and allocated resources for simultaneously supporting in-person and remote participation. All Commission meetings will include procedures to comply with the open meeting requirements of the City’s Sunshine Ordinance and the State’s Brown Act.

  1. Recent Bicyclist and Pedestrian Severe and Fatal Traffic Crashes

    (6:25 PM, 10 minutes) Commissioner Schader (patricias.oakland@gmail.com) will lead the commission in a discussion of recent fatal and other high-profile traffic crashes in Oakland involving bicyclists and pedestrians.

    • On Friday, December 1, 2023 at approximately 12:33 AM, a 34-year-old male pedestrian was killed by a northbound driver in a hit-and-run collision while walking eastbound in the southern crosswalk at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and West Grand Avenue.
  2. Violence Prevention Partnerships

    (6:35 PM, 40 minutes) Joe Wang, OakDOT Safe Streets Division Manager (JWang@oaklandca.gov), Brian Sukkar, OakDOT Transportation Engineer (BSukkar@oaklandca.gov), and Joe DeVries, Deputy City Administrator (JDeVries@oaklandca.gov) will provide an overview of non-traditional engineering approaches OakDOT has begun piloting in support of City violence prevention efforts led by the Oakland Police Department and the Department of Violence Prevention.

  3. BPAC Chair’s Report to the Public Works and Transportation Committee

    (7:15 PM, 25 minutes) BPAC Chair Dianne Yee (yee.bpac@gmail.com) will present notes on the draft 2023 BPAC Chair's Report to Oakland City Council’s Public Works Committee for the BPAC's review. The report will be presented to the BPAC at the January 2024 meeting for final review and approval.

  4. BPAC Open Forum Liaison Report

    (7:40 PM, 5 minutes) Jimmy Jessup (jwjessup@gmail.com) will report back on the status of items presented by the public to the BPAC in 2023. The BPAC Open Forum Liaison requests that the BPAC review and accept the report and consider further action, if necessary.
