Kyle O’Malley is an attorney with the law firm Phillips, Erlewine, Given & Carlin. His civil law practice is dedicated to fighting for ordinary people harmed, exploited, or marginalized by the powerful and unscrupulous and includes litigation of a wide variety of matters, including employment and consumer actions in furtherance of the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities. The son and brother of special educators, Kyle was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. After graduating at the top of his class from Stanford University, he attended the University of Virginia Law, where he served on the managing board of the Journal of Law & Politics and as a Legal Writing Fellow in the Law School’s the Department of Legal Research and Writing. He and his partner Andy (an artist) live in Oakland where they are proud to contribute to its deep-rooted traditions of activism, service to community, and leadership through action. He is equally humbled and elated to serve on the Commission.
