Commissioner

My love of transportation started when my family moved from Niterói, Brazil, to Miami, FL in 1989. To my horror, I became dependent on car rides again after being a perfectly independent bus-riding 16-yo in Brazil; a predicament that ended two years later with my move to Berkeley for college. At 35 I went back to school to study transportation planning and engineering, and now work at BART implementing bike/ped access projects at stations. I have served in the BART Bicycle Advisory Task Force and the Caltrans D4 Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and now look forward to making walking and biking safer in Oakland as a BPAC Commissioner. Look for me and my shiny bike tassels at Bike to Work Day pancake breakfast, Pedalfest, and other events.
