Lester G. Meu joined the MCPD in 2018 and is a practicing Architect with an office in Oakland. He was raised in the East Bay and has been a resident of Oakland since 1976. He also currently shares caregiving to a centenarian parent. Lester is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited professional with extensive experience in applying ADA Title III requirements and has interest in Oakland’s Title II obligations. He believes in universal design that makes the environment accessible to the greatest extent possible by all people.
As a Certified Access Specialist (CASp) and a trainer for both the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal-OES) and American Institute of Architects (AIA), Lester prepares disaster service workers providing post-disaster building safety assessments. He has a particular interest in the community’s response to protect the elderly and persons with disabilities in the event of a disaster.
