The mission of the Criminalistics Division is to provide our clients with prompt, effective and reliable forensic science services, unbiased evaluation and interpretation of data derived from the analysis of physical evidence, and effective testimony in order to aid in the administration of justice in cases involving the jurisdiction of the Oakland Police Department.
The Oakland Police Department collects and shares data about crime and policing. Collecting and sharing police data is an important part of our work. We collect and report data about crimes, police response times, and other police-related events.
The Oakland Police Department supports a range of programs for children and youth in our city. Some target at-risk young people, or those who may have already taken a wrong step. Others offer opportunities to explore careers in law enforcement and the justice system.
The Policies and Procedures Committee (PPC) meets as needed to discuss topics such as noticing practices, contents of staff reports, and other non-project-related administrative matters. The PPC is an official committee of the Planning Commission.
The Planning Bureau oversees a range of policy projects and programs to help create an inclusive, safe and healthy environment for all Oaklanders.

The mission of Code Enforcement Services is to promote safe and healthy living and working environments while helping to improve the quality of life for all Oaklanders. We strive to administer a fair and unbiased enforcement program to address violations of the Oakland Municipal Codes, city ordinances, and land use regulations.
