The Planning & Building Department (PBD) oversees the use and development of properties within the city to ensure public safety and compliance with local codes and regulations. Police Crime Laboratory (Criminalistics Division)

The mission of the Criminalistics Division is to provide our clients with prompt, effective and reliable forensic science services, unbiased evaluation and interpretation of data derived from the analysis of physical evidence, and effective testimony in order to aid in the administration of justice in cases involving the jurisdiction of the Oakland Police Department.

The Oakland Police Department collects and shares data about crime and policing. Collecting and sharing police data is an important part of our work. We collect and report data about crimes, police response times, and other police-related events.

Police Department Youth and Family Services

The Oakland Police Department supports a range of programs for children and youth in our city. Some target at-risk young people, or those who may have already taken a wrong step. Others offer opportunities to explore careers in law enforcement and the justice system.
