Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are attached or detached accessory dwellings that are accessory to primary Residential Facilities located on the same lot and provide complete independent facilities for living, sleeping, eating, cooking, and sanitation. See below for new applications and how-to guides that reflect the latest requirements.

Adult Employment and Training

The Workforce Development Board's partners operate America's Job Centers of California (AJCCs) to help Oakland adults find their next job.

After School Arts Academy

When school is out, art is in! daily snack, homework help and 2 art classes/day in a range of mediums including painting, drawing, clay, dancing, drumming, singing, and more. Pickup from Emerson, all other schools must be dropped off by parents. <br><b>Program Dates: August 21, 2023 - May 17, 2024, No after-school program on days when OUSD is not in school</b> <br>$29.50/day charged Monthly based on the number of school days for each month, from after school until 6:00pm (No adjustments made for days students do not attend)

Aging & Adult Services

The City provides services that support independence, safety, health, and active living for seniors. We work with community partners to support services that include care management, jobs, training, volunteering, recreation and transportation assistance.

Alameda County Comprehensive Investment Plan

The Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC) administers a Comprehensive Investment Plan (CIP), which draws from fund sources including Measure BB and Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA, a local fund source of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District) for the entire County.

Alcohol Beverage Action Team (ABAT)

The ABAT Unit is responsible for licensing, inspecting, and conducting enforcement operations at all alcohol and tobacco establishments within the City of Oakland to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal law. The unit also responds to citizen complaints regarding nuisance bars and stores. In addition, the unit provides free training to educate business owners about various local and state regulations related to their businesses. The goals of ABAT enforcement operations are to (1) decrease criminal and nuisance activity associated with ABC or TRL licensed premises in the City; (2) decrease the sale of alcohol or tobacco products to minors; (3) ensure that all licensed locations are abiding by local, state, and federal laws; (4) educate the public; and (5) bring licensed premised back to productive use through education and enforcement.

Allendale Recreation Center

Allendale Recreation Center is where the fun begins! Located in the heart of Oakland, Allendale Recreation Center offers programs for the entire community. Whether you are looking to improve your English in our ESL Program or simply inquiring about an after school program to accommodate your working needs, Allendale has something for you. Many of our programs are designed for the community by the community, including our Family Kickers Soccer and Little Hooper program where family participation is welcomed. Allendale Recreation Center is your hub for resources, activities for all ages and abilities, cultural enrichment and community programming. Advisory Council meets at 6:30pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
