When your construction is going to impact a natural habitat (e.g. a creek) or man-made infrastructure (e.g. a sidewalk) you will need an engineering permit.

Engineering Services

The OakDOT Engineering Services team issues permits for privately-funded projects or work in the City of Oakland Right-of-Way and processes Subdivision maps.

Eviction

Oakland is a “just cause” city. This means that a property owner must have a “just cause” to evict a tenant. These “just causes” are outlined in the Just Cause for Eviction Ordinance. The Rent Adjustment Program does not hear eviction cases and cannot provide legal advice or legal assistance. For questions or assistance regarding your rights or with your case, please contact a local advocacy organizations.

Fair Housing

The City offer resources and partners with community organizations to protect the housing and tenant rights of community members.

Family Coaching

Family Coaching is a program offered directly by the DVP to high-risk individuals and their families. Coaches and families practice constructive ways of problem solving, communicating, and making decisions that they are able to apply to any problem the family needs to address, including exposure to violence. This work will strengthen relationships between family members inside and outside the home from multiple generations in order to increase family cohesion, pride, and sources of support.
