Bushrod Recreation Center

Located in North Oakland’s Temescal District, Bushrod Recreation Center was constructed in 2000, making it one of newest recreation centers in the area. Bushrod is equipped with a full sized gymnasium, weight room, kitchen, play structure, lighted basketball and tennis courts, lighted football/soccer fields, baseball/softball field, and picnic areas. The CalHome Program partners with lenders to assist low-income, first-time homebuyers with buying a home in the City of Oakland. This program is currently suspended for lack of funds. This page will be updated when we have funding replenished and are taking reservations.

Our camps teach youth the wonders of the great outdoors and respect for nature. Our activities help youth make new friends, build their problem-solving skills, and develop self confidence and independence. We have programs for kids age 3 years and older.

Candidates and Campaigns

The Public Ethics Commission enforces campaign rules, acts as official filing officer for campaign statements, and provides resources to educate candidates and committees about local rules and requirements.

Cannabis Equity Program

In the Spring of 2017, the City Council enacted an Equity Permit Program that addresses disparities in the cannabis industry by prioritizing the victims of the war on drugs, and minimizing barriers of entry into the industry.

Capital Contracts Division

The Capital Contracts Division (CCD) provides contract services for two departments: the Public Works Department (OPW) and the Department of Transportation (OakDOT). Our contracts are only for capital improvement projects, which are projects that improve the infrastructure of City property. These projects are approved by the City Council during the two year budget cycle.

Car Share

OakDOT's Parking & Mobility Division is implementing two separate car share pilot programs: the Free-Floating Car Share Pilot and the Dedicated Space Car Share Pilot. Electric mopeds are eligible vehicles under this program.

Carmen Flores Recreation Center

The Carmen Flores Recreation Center is located in the heart of Oakland’s Fruitvale district. Diverse recreational programs are offered at low cost for tiny tots, youth, teens, adults and seniors. The center and park feature an industrial sized kitchen, multipurpose room, fully equipped computer lab and an artificial multipurpose field. Current renovations to the park include full basketball court, new entry way, a track, lighting, and landscaping which was completed in Fall 2011. We have a team of bilingual staff and a friendly atmosphere. Our programs are designed to expose our community to new activities that help participants find their passion in life. Central East Oakland Discovery Center

The Central East Oakland Discovery Center is a community-based program that offers neighborhood youth a fun way to explore their world through science.It provides youth with the materials, resources, and coaching that allows them the creative space to discover their own skills and enables them to pursue their own interests. It encourages youth to see learning as something they pursue for their own benefit.The program is located at Brookdale Recreation Center.
