The first new facilities of the Oakland Global Trade and Logistics Center will open this year, increasing the Port’s capacity. The Introductory School of Dance provides beginner and intermediate classes in dance, gymnastics, and martial arts.Students learn movement skills, history, community, respect, and self-confidence. Joaquin Miller Community Center is nestled among the majestic redwood trees inside Joaquin Miller Park.The Joaquin Miller Community Center is a 8,500 square-foot, rustic wood framed, one-story facility, with stained glass windows and doors, and a panoramic view of the Bay Area. The Woodminster Cascades tumble into a reflection pond near the amphitheater.Amenities include a modern commercial grade kitchen, assembly rooms, conference rooms, an outdoor deck and a working fireplace. Onsite parking is available. Reservations are booked on a first come first serve basis.
Enter Joaquin Miller Park and you will quickly forget that you are minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Hikers, equestrians, bicyclists, joggers and picnickers from all over the Bay Area regularly frequent the 500-acre park. The rustic woodland trails lead you through redwood groves and oak woodlands and across lush creeksides and wet meadows. Dogs are allowed - on leash - throughout the park and a fenced off-leash dog areas for both large and small dogs is available on park property. The Keep Oakland Clean & Beautiful (KOCB) division of Oakland Public Works is responsible for regularly scheduled street sweeping, City-wide litter reduction, maintenance of sidewalk litter containers, keeping paved medians and City-owned lots free of overgrown vegetation, pick-up of illegal dumping on streets, graffiti removal from public property, and cleanup of homeless encampments.

In order to tackle the weight of Oakland’s current housing crisis, we must implement proven and innovative housing solutions. We must counter the systemic barriers that have continuously disabled pathways to homeownership and generational wealth for Black and Brown community members, resources must be distributed to those most impacted.
Aiding in our local goal for a just and equitable recovery, my office will continue to advocate for and uplift career, workforce, and economic development opportunities for East Oakland residents.
