Streetscape and Public Facility Projects

The Public/Private Development Division within the Economic and Workforce Development Department has taken over responsibility of former Redevelopment Agency projects. Below is a sampling of current projects.

Summer In Oakland

This summer in Oakland, there are numerous events and programs available to our community to celebrate and play and learn together in our beautiful shares spaces. For example, please join us for Town Nights, a series of free community events hosted Friday evenings during the summer months. With a focus on preventing violence and fostering unity, Town Nights offers safe spaces for families, friends, and neighbors to come together and enjoy free food, music, games, and more. Sustainability

The City of Oakland is committed to becoming a more sustainable city – a community in which all people have the opportunity to pursue safe, happy, healthy and fulfilling lives, now and into the future. Protecting a clean and healthy natural environment; growing a strong local economy brimming with opportunity; and fostering a safe, equitable and vibrant community are all critical components of this vision. Oakland’s 2030 Equitable Climate Action Plan (ECAP) details the City’s pathway to decarbonize our buildings and transportation, strengthen our local economy, and empower a community resilient against climate change.

Team Oakland Youth Job Training

Team Oakland is a City-sponsored summer employment program for Oakland youth between the ages of 15 and 24. Team Oakland participants gain practical job training experience through meaningful beautification and cleanup projects. Youth engage in crew based work on cleanups, park maintenance, habitat restoration, fire fuel management, community outreach, and trainings on work, life and environmental topics. Team Oakland is administered by Oakland Public Works through a contract with a local employment development organization. Team Oakland began in 1993.

Telecommunications Program

If your company is interested in installing cellular equipment on City-owned property, we encourage you to contact the Real Estate Services Division. You will complete and submit an application for a telecommunications license, including a non-refundable processing fee.

Telegraph Avenue Corridor Improvements

Construction starting soon on Telegraph Avenue between 20th Street and 42nd Street! Safety improvements complete on Telegraph Avenue between 42nd Street and 52nd Street.

Tenant Information

The Rent Adjustment Program Ordinance provides a forum for tenants to challenge rent increases, to make a claim for decreased housing services and/or to contest a loss of service, and to make other claims provided by law.
