In 2017 the City Council enacted the nation's first cannabis equity program to promote equitable ownership and employment opportunities in the cannabis industry in order to decrease disparities in life outcomes for marginalized communities of color and address the disproportionate impacts of the war on drugs in those communities.
Qualified Equity applicants can receive free assistance with navigating the cannabis permit process.
