How to Apply for the Cultural Funding Grant

Who is eligible to receive a Cultural Funding Grant?

Individual artists living in Oakland. Oakland-based non-profit organizations. Proof of residency required with the application.

How can interested artists and organizations apply to receive an award?

Submit an online application.

What the grant categories for the fiscal year 2020-2021?

Individual artist project.

Organization project (community-based or school-based).

Where can potential applicants find the online application?

The application is available online on the cultural funding landing page. We no longer accept paper applications.

What is the minimum award? What is the maximum award?

The Individual Artist Project only awards $7,000 in total. Applicants cannot request less or more than $7,000.

The Organization Project is a maximum of $20,000. Applicants can request less than $20,000.

If award, when will grantees receive the funds?

Grant agreements will be distributed after the final approval by the Oakland City Council. Grantees typically receive funds 6-8 weeks after the submission of their completed agreement packet.
