Early Head Start

Early Head Start offers services to low-income infants and toddlers and their families. Early Head Start also offers services to pregnant women.


Parents and staff work together to develop a individualized plan for each child.

Early Head Start works with service providers to offer health, nutrition, career development and other services. Early Head Start works to ensure continuity of services.

The City of Oakland offers three Early Head Start programs. Two programs are located in community-based centers. The third program is a home-based option. The City also partners with the Unity Council to offer Early Head Start programs. All programs are year-round.
