BPAC

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Program provides staff support to Oakland's Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) which advises the City on programs and projects related to walking and bicycling. Meetings take place in City Hall on the third Thursday of the month and are open to the public.

Other agencies are working on bicycle and pedestrian projects in Oakland, such as the San Pablo Avenue Corridor Project (Alameda County Transportation Commission) and the East Span of the Bay Bridge (Caltrans).

About

The Bicycle & Pedestrian Program is part of OakDOT's Safe Streets Division and delivers low-cost/high-impact projects using data-driven decisions, quality design, professionalism, and respect for the Oakland communities we serve. Our work includes:

  • Facilitating, coordinating, and overseeing the implementation of the city's Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans
  • Creating, managing, and analyzing transportation data
  • Designing striping and signage for bikeway projects
  • Providing technical assistance to other City divisions and outside agencies on projects that include bicycle and pedestrian facilities
