The Oakland Police Department is requesting assistance from the media and the public in locating missing person Ms. Retha Glenn. She was last seen at her residence on Thursday, August 6, 2020, in the 3400 block of 64th Avenue Place.

On August 6, 2020, at 8:10 AM, in the 100 block of East 12th Street, Falck ambulance personnel flagged down Oakland Patrol Officers and advised them of a vehicle stopped in the roadway, and that the driver who was the sole occupant, was asleep with a firearm near his lap in plain view.

On August 6th, 2020, at approximately 9:59 PM, Oakland Police Patrol Officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Fairfax Ave. to investigate a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located four-male adults suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Austin, Chicago, Charlotte, and San Antonio are just a few of the nation’s major cities that are experiencing a spike in homicides. The city of Oakland is also dealing with the same issue. The Oakland Police Department reports for the month of July, 11 people lost their lives to violence in Oakland, in comparison seven people were killed in July of the previous year.

Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in the homicide investigation of Jeffery Chambers. He was fatally stabbed on July 17, 2020, in the 800 block of Peralta Street. Chambers, an unsheltered Oakland resident was also known by the nickname “Lil Jeff”.

We continue to facilitate safe spaces and places for gatherings and marches and we stand with our community in condemning the murder of George Floyd and other instances of Police Brutality.

Denver, Chicago, New Orleans, and Nashville are just a few of the nation’s major cities that are experiencing a spike in shootings and homicides. In the first six months of 2020, there were more than 180 reported assaults with a firearm in Oakland, up 34% year to date. The Oakland Police Department relies on our community members to call 911 and report gunfire. However, roughly 86% of shootings in Oakland are unreported.

The Oakland Police Department’s Special Victims Section is issuing a public safety advisory to our community members.
The Special Victims Section was made aware of a male individual who is exhibiting aggressive behavior towards women in the areas of West Grand and Broadway, and the 500 block of Thomas L. Berkley Way.
