OPD Crime Suppression Leads to Three Arrests and Firearms Recovered

In response to rising violence in the Acorn community, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) increased its presence in the area.

On February 25, 2025, OPD Ceasefire officers attempted to conduct an enforcement stop on a suspect vehicle, but the driver did not comply and left the scene. OPD’s air support helicopter, ARGUS, monitored the vehicle and witnessed a person exiting the rear passenger side and running on foot. Officers were also able to detain this individual and recover two firearms.

As the driver sped away, he eventually collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Mandela Parkway and West Grand Avenue. Officers responded to the incident and arrested the driver and a second passenger.

All three individuals face firearm-related charges, with the driver facing an additional charge for evading officers.

OPD remains committed to proactive policing to improve public safety and will continue to take steps to prevent violence and ensure the safety and well-being of our community members.
