From November 14th to November 17th, 2022, Mayor Libby Schaff and Sustainability and Resilience Director Daniel Hamilton departed for Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt to participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties 27 (UNFCCC COP 27). There, the Mayor and Daniel shared Oakland's journey for climate equity in mitigation and adaptation and fostered new connections to advance more implementation of the City's 2030 Equitable Climate Action Plan. A highlight was the Mayor delivering formal remarks on behalf of all global subnational governments to petition the inclusion of cities and other local jurisdictions as full members of the UNFCCC process.
