Oakland, CA – Oakland Animal Services, which runs the City’s animal shelter, is at capacity for dogs and has announced extended hours and reduced fees this week to increase adoptions.

“We need the community’s help! All of our dog kennels are completely full, and we have new animals entering the shelter every day,” said Ann Dunn, Director, Oakland Animal Services. “We have an unprecedented number of large dogs (almost 100!) currently available for adoption, and we urgently need to find them homes.”

This week, May 5 – 8, Oakland Animal Services is extending adoption hours:

  • Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 12 to 7 pm
  • Sunday: 12 to 3 pm

Thanks to Bissell Empty the Shelters, adoption fees will be just $20 for all animals.

Check out the How to Adopt page to learn more about the adoption process. And please help spread the word!
