National Day of Racial Healing

It has been a hard time, and as we strive to catch our breath and look toward changes in 2021, advancing racial equity continues to be crucial to the future of our democracy. The Department of Race and Equity invites you to set aside time to join with others across the nation to reflect on where we go from here, to notice the power of collective action and to recommit to dismantling systemic racism.

The Kellogg Foundation has organized an event for their National Day of Racial Healing, to encourage truth-telling, strong relationships, collaboration, and collective purpose, on Tuesday, January 19 at 12:00 PST. If you can, please attend the event that will be hosted by Baratunde Thurston, featuring John Legend, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Hasan Minhaj, Maria Hinojosa, Aloe Blacc, Storm Reid and more.

You can RSVP here:https://healourcommunities.org/day-of-racial-healing/#take-action.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to get recharged and inspired as we launch another year of race and equity work in the City of Oakland.
