7th St Pedestrian Crossing

A new pedestrian crossing was put in near the Lake Merritt Channel Flood Control station.

A green white and yellow pedestrian crossing.

A new pedestrian crossing was put in place on 7th street, alongside the Lake Merritt Channel. The Flood Control pedestrian tunnels flood frequently with high tides, and are often strewn with trash. The crossing was put in place to give another way to cross 7th St, if persons didn't want to or couldn't use the tunnels. This has been well used by patrons of the the Sunday market in the Laney College parking lot.

Unfortunately, it was damaged in December when a car struck and destroyed one of the sign posts. Drainage is also not great in heavy rain, which the City is looking at addressing.
