Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department wants everyone to celebrate New Year’s safely. We want to remind our community members setting off illegal fireworks and shooting firearms can put you and the people you love at risk for injury and even death.

Happy New Year 2021

Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department wants everyone to celebrate New Year’s safely. We want to remind our community members setting off illegal fireworks and shooting firearms can put you and the people you love at risk for injury and even death. Illegal fireworks and celebratory gunfire have no place in our community.

Additionally, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Alameda County Health Order to Shelter in Place is still in effect. As a reminder, we are not able to gather and celebrate a traditional New Year’s Eve. We encourage those to celebrate at home.

The Oakland Police Department would like to wish our community members a happy and safe New Year.

#OPDCARES initiative is about working together as a community to help stop the tragic loss of life and reduce the level of violence in our city. Collectively, we want to ensure Oaklanders and our visitors are safe in our community.
