Oakland Police Press Release

Oakland, CA — At a press conference today, the Oakland Police Department announced several arrests made in connection to multiple homicide cases.

Investigators discussed arrests in four recent homicides and one that dated back to 2018.

  • Carlton Coleman was arrested for the homicide in the 1400 block of 89th Avenue on October 15th.
  • Hassan Dbouk was arrested for the double homicide that occurred in the 1900 block of 84th Avenue on October 14th.
  • Dominic Glover and Gregory Ignacio were arrested for two homicides that took place on September 28th. The first occurred in the 1700 block of Church Street and the second in the 2400 block of International Boulevard.
  • David Martin was arrested for the homicide that occurred in the 1700 block of 28th Avenue in November of 2018.

This year, 80 people have lost their lives in Oakland. Homicide investigators have solved 29 of those cases and 16 additional homicides from previous years. “I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Oakland Police Department. I continue to support them as they work to keep our community safe,” said Oakland City Councilmember Larry Reid.

At the press conference, OPD displayed more than a dozen recently recovered firearms. Many of the weapons were used in crimes and illegally obtained. Some of the firearms were modified and equipped with high capacity magazines. Deputy Chief L. Armstrong said, “These are weapons of war! These are weapons that should not be in anyone’s community, yet we see them being used in East Oakland.” Interim Police Chief Susan E. Manheimer said, “We are committed to stopping the violence. The amount of firepower out there is alarming.”

So far this year, OPD has recovered more than 1000 firearms, up nearly 40% over the same time last year. Removing guns from our streets and arresting those responsible is a critical step to ending the unacceptable violence in our community,” Mayor Libby Schaaf said. “OPD’s relentless efforts, along with our tireless violence prevention teams, are all working together to stop the trauma, and build peace and safety back into our communities.

#OPDCARES initiative is about working together as a community to help stop the tragic loss of life and reduce the level of violence in our city. Collectively, we want to ensure Oaklanders and our visitors are safe in our community. When there is a loss of life in Oakland, it impacts us all.
