As part of the nationwide effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, the City of Oakland Head Start Program will close early for Spring Break. All City of Oakland Head Start sites will close starting Monday, March 16th. At this time, we anticipate the Program will remain closed through Sunday, April 5th.

While COVID-19 appears to be a mild illness in children, closing the Program is a measure we can take to help prevent the spread of the virus to those who are at risk for more serious illness, our healthcare workers, and to minimize the strain on the healthcare system.

If you need support to care for your family during this time, please let us know how we can help. Your Family Advocate or Home Based Visitor are available by phone. If you are concerned that you or someone you know is ill, call your medical provider.

We will continue to share updates as we receive them. Please visit the City website for City updates https://www.oaklandca.gov/news/2020/new-coronavirus-covid-19-update

If you cannot reach your family advocate, center director or home based visitor and you have any questions or concerns please call the Head Start front desk on 510-238-3165.
