Gateway Industrial District Now Open for Business!

Now that the City has completed its public improvement work at the Gateway Industrial District (formerly the Oakland Army Base) — including installing all new roads, landscaping, and pedestrian and bike trails — it is now open for business.

Four companies are now active in the District, including:

Providing Local Jobs:

Providing local jobs is a key goal of the redevelopment of the former Oakland Army Base. Development on the City's Gateway Industrial District is subject to Construction and Operations Jobs Policies. The West Oakland Jobs Resources Center provides a location for developers and operators to seek local job applicants. The Oversight Commission is tasked with overseeing compliance with the Jobs Policies.

Under Construction:

Prologis is constructing 18,000 sf of additional warehouse logistics space at 2001 Maritime Street. Click here to read more!

Air Quality:

To address Air Quality, the City is working with the Port to implement the Truck Management Plan and with the developers to implement individual Diesel Emissions Reduction Plans, including construction and operations plans. The TMP is in Year One of its implementation and is engaged with the community on finalizing the truck parking and truck routing revisions to the Oakland Municipal Code.

Upcoming:

In addition, the City is working with California Waste Solutions, Inc. (CWS) to relocate their recycling business from West Oakland to the District. CWS is implementing their Public Engagement Plan for this development.
