Families across the nation and the world have been impacted by the pandemic and many are going through financial hardship. Here in Oakland, we want to make sure that our families and neighbors have access to a Thanksgiving meal and continue to stay safe during the pandemic. I’ve partnered with La Perla and Oakland Mutual Aid Collective to put our 1st FREE Community Meal and Mask Giveaway event on Thursday, November 26th - we will be giving out meals to-go that will include mash potatoes, turkey, gravy and vegetables. We will also be giving out free PPE mutual aid kits that will include, reusable/washable face mask, disposable face masks, hand sanitizer and gloves. All are welcome.

This event would not have been possible without the support of Council President Rebecca Kaplan, Councilmember Noel Gallo, Oakland Firefighters, Waste Management, Laurel District Association, PG&E, UCSF, APA Democratic Caucus, and the many volunteers that helped safely pre-pack mutual aid kits.

We are also grateful for the year-round work of the East Oakland Collective, The Village and many others who are partnering with us to get hot meals to our unhoused/curbside communities and seniors throughout Oakland.
