FBI and Oakland Police Department Release Public Service Announcements

On Monday, June 25, 2018, OPD and the FBI released a PSA on the murder of Aya Nakano. The PSA can be found here. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible for the death of Aya Nakano. His family has offered an additional $100,000 for information about what happened to him the night he was killed.

On Monday, July 9, 2018, OPD and the FBI released a PSA on the murder of Brian Bole. The PSA can be found here. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the death of Brian Bole. Oakland Crime Stoppers has offered an additional $10,000 reward. “We urge the public to take a close look at the cases of Aya and Brian. These PSAs may trigger a memory of something you saw or heard that seemed suspicious,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge John F. Bennett. “If you have anything to report, please come forward to law enforcement – no detail is too small to help us solve these cases.” 

Oakland Police Chief Anne E. Kirkpatrick said, “We will continue our efforts with our law enforcement partners and ask for community assistance to help us solve these cases. Together, let us bring closure to the families of violent crime by identifying and arresting those responsible.”

BACKGROUND:
On June 12, 2013, around 11 p.m., Aya Nakano, one hour away from his 23rd birthday, was driving to his home in Emeryville, California. At the intersection of Stanford Avenue and Market Street in Oakland, California, Nakano's vehicle was hit by a silver four-door sedan with tint on the rear windows. Nakano stopped near the intersection of Stanford Avenue and Market Street in Oakland. The suspects also stopped. They exited the silver sedan and shot Nakano, fatally wounding him. The suspects then left the scene in the silver sedan. On April 10, 2016, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Brian Bole, age 30, was murdered while walking towards his residence on Richmond Boulevard in Oakland, California. Bole had just left a local bar when he was approached by an unknown subject who fatally shot him and then fled the area.
