The Civil Service Board hears appeals on examinations, eligible lists, minimum qualifications, discrimination complaints, disciplinary issues, and other merit system matters. The Civil Service Board conducts its regular meeting on the third Thursday of every month. Meetings are usually held in Hearing Room 1 in City Hall. Meeting notices and agendas are posted with other City Notices by the Office of the City Clerk. Meetings of the Board are open and provide an opportunity for public comment on any agenda item and in open forum. The Board also has authority to meet in closed session pursuant to the Brown Act and the City’s Sunshine Ordinance.
