POSTPONED - Dedication Event - Gates for the Gardens at Lake Merritt

POSTPONED - The dedication event has been postponed until later in the Spring.

The two hand-forged iron gates are in Lakeside Park, off Bellevue Avenue. The dedication event will be at the main gate adjacent to the Lakeside Park Garden Center. Light refreshments served in the Garden Center Vista Room following the dedication event.

This site-specific public art project was commissioned through the City’s 1.5 percent for art program, a 30-year-old program that ensures that public artwork is integrated into Oakland’s municipal capital projects. Designed to celebrate the gardens and all the City staff and volunteers who care for them.

The project was funded by Measure DD with additional support from the Friends of the Gardens at Lake Merritt. Implemented in conjunction with the Measure DD: Bellevue Avenue project.

Managed by the Public Art Program, Cultural Affairs Division, Economic & Workforce Development Department.

Kristen Zaremba, Public Art Coordinator
