On June 18, 2019, Council unanimously adopted an ordinance co-sponsored by Councilmember Bas establishing Oakland's policy prohibiting the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in order to protect honey bees and other pollinators; urging the adoption of state and federal restrictions on these pesticides; and urging retailers operating in the City not to sell neonicotinoids.
