West Grand Early Head Start, Brookfield Head Start, and Sungate Head Start Centers are open to families with children 0 to 8 years old from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

In Oakland, almost 20 percent of young children in the Head Start program face housing insecurity. This challenge hinders families' ability to consistently and punctually attend the preschool program, leading some to withdraw. To address this, the city has allocated half a million dollars to a mobile classroom initiative aimed at reaching these children.
