Get Free Compost

West Oakland Farm Park Map

In partnership with Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project, the City of Oakland is providing residents with free compost year-round at the West Oakland Farm Park (2847 Peralta St.). The compost is made from food scraps and yard waste collected from Oakland homes and businesses.

The West Oakland Farm Park Compost Hub is open only during park hours.

  • Tues-Friday 1 pm to 6 pm
  • Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm

When accessing the compost hub, please follow the instructions below:

  • Observe all signage, and respect the site and organization.
  • Bring your own containers and load compost yourself.
  • Complete the on-site participation survey during each visit. This helps the City maintain this service and demonstrate community interest.

Compost is available on a first-come, first-served basis and may run out between deliveries—especially during high-demand seasons (spring and fall) or wet weather.
